SAG Awards: This is Us, Veep e Big Little Lies trionfano ai premi degli attori

Si è svolta ieri sera a Los Angeles la 24esima edizione degli Screen Actors Guild Awards, i premi del potente sindacato degli attori. Condotta da Kristen Bell, la cerimonia ha visto solo presentatrici donne sul palco: da Halle Berry a Dakota Fanning, passando per Kelly Marie Tran e Lupita Nyong'o.

Vera sorpresa della serata, nella sezione tv, è stato il premio come miglior cast d'insieme in una serie drammatica a This is Us, quando in molti si aspettavano un nuovo premio a Stranger Things o l'ennesimo riconoscimento a The Handmaid's Tale. È un riconoscimento importantissimo per una serie in onda su un canale broadcast: non capitava dal 2006 (Grey's Anatomy). Solitamente, infatti, la categoria è dominata da serie in onda su canali via cavo o più recentemente in streaming. This is Us ha ottenuto anche il SAG per il miglior attore protagonista in una serie drammatica (Sterling K. Brown).

Come noto, il sindacato degli attori ama ripetersi, quindi non stupisce che Claire Foy abbia nuovamente vinto il SAG come migliore attrice in una serie drammatica per The Crown (unico premio per Netflix), così come William H. Macy come migliore attore in una comedy (Shameless) e Julia Louis-Dreyfus come migliore attrice in una comedy (Veep, l'attrice non ha potuto ritirare il premio perché a New York per uno spettacolo teatrale). Non si è ripetuto invece il premio al miglior cast d'insieme in una comedy, che non è andato per la quarta volta consecutiva a Orange is the New Black ma a Veep. La HBO trionfa anche in altre categorie: Game of Thrones come miglior performance d'azione per un cast di stunt, Nicole Kidman e Alexander Skarsgard come migliore attrice e miglior attore in una miniserie (Big Little Lies).
