La seconda stagione vede di nuovo protagonisti Pedro Pascal e Bella Ramsey nei panni, rispettivamente, di Joel e Ellie insieme a Gabriel Luna che interpreta Tommy e Rutina Wesley nel ruolo di Maria. Le già annunciate new entry nel cast sono invece Kaitlyn Dever che vestirà i panni di Abby, Isabela Merced nel ruolo di Dina, Young Mazino sarà Jesse, Ariela Barer interpreterà Mel, Tati Gabrielle nei panni di Nora, Spencer Lord in quelli di Owen e Danny Ramirez che invece sarà Manny. Catherine O’Hara sarà guest star della nuova stagione.
