La premiazione si terrà il 15 gennaio 2012 in una cerimonia condotta ancora una volta da Ricky Gervais. Da notare le nomination di Game of Thrones e American Horror Story, come miglior serie drammatica, il trionfo di Homeland (ignorato ai SAG), gli onnipresenti Tina Fey e Alec Baldwin per 30 Rock (che però non viene nominata come miglior serie comedy, dove invece ritroviamo Glee e The Big Bang Theory).
