Il sito ufficiale del Comic-Con di San Diego ha da poco diffuso le nomination per i Premi Eisner di quest'anno. Come di consueto, le serie scritte da Brian K. Vaughan (in corsa come Miglior Scrittore) fanno incetta di candidature, Saga e Paper Girls entrambe come Miglior Serie Regolare e Sentinelle d'Inverno (We Stand of Guard) come Miglior Serie Limitata; Fiona Staples è a sua volta candidata siano come Miglior Artista che come Miglior Copertinista.

Torna alla ribalta anche Ed Brubaker, in corsa per la statuetta come Miglior Scrittore: il suo Criminal 10th Anniversary Special è candidato come Miglior Albo Singolo, mentre Kill or be Killed figura tra le migliori serie regolari. Grande ritorno anche per Kurt Busiek e per la sua storica serie Astro City, in corsa per le medesime statuette.

La Marvel porta a casa undici candidature grazie a Mighty Thor, Han Solo, Vision, Unbeatable Squirrel Girl, Black Panther e la sorpresa Mockingbird, la cui scrittrice Chelsea Cain figura tra gli scrittori in corsa. La DC Comics ne ottiene una in più grazie alle graphic novel Wonder Woman: The True Amazon, di Jill Thompson, e Notte Oscura: Una storia vera di Batman di Paul Dini e Eduardo Risso, oltre all'Annual di Batman (per una storia breve di Tom King e David Finch) e alle serie regolari e limitate Astro City, Clean Room, Deathstroke, Wonder Woman, Batgirl e Superman: American Alien. La Dark Horse incassa tredici nomination, tra cui quella di Miglior Serie Limitata, con Briggs Land di Brian Wood e Mack Chater, e Miglior Serie Regolare, grazie a Black Hammer di Jeff Lemire (in corsa come Miglior Scrittore) e Dean Ormston.
