Me & Earl & the Dying Girl vince il premio del pubblico e della giuria all'edizione 2015 del Sundance Film Festival. Lo rivedremo agli Oscar?
"Voglio dedicare questo premio a tutti i giovani registi della mia città, Laredo, in Texas" ha dichiarato Alfonso Gomez-Rejon ritirando il premio. La storia, scritta da Jesse Andrews, ruota attorno a Greg, un adolescente che decide di passare l'ultimo anno del liceo rimanendo il più anonimo possibile, evitando tutte le interazioni sociali e nel frattempo realizzando in segreto folli e bizzarri film con il suo unico amico, Earl. Il suo anonimato e la sua amicizia vengono minacciati improvvisamente quando sua madre lo forza a diventare amico di una compagna di classe malata di Leucemia. Nel cast anche RJ Cyler, Nick Offerman, Connie Britton e Molly Shannon.
