Sono ben 171 i film che Bill Clinton ha visto durante i due mandati della sua presidenza, dal 1993 al 2001.

L'informazione arriva grazie a Gizmodo, che attraverso il Freedom of Information Act ha ottenuto alcuni documenti con registrati tutti i film che ha visto Clinton nella sala cinematografica della Casa Bianca: "La cosa migliore della Casa Bianca," disse il Presidente nel 1999 a Roger Ebert, "non è l'Air Force One o Camp David, ma lo splendido cinema al suo interno".

Scorrendo la lista, che non contiene duplicati (ma Clinton ha visto due volte Il Patriota, Braveheart e La Musica del Cuore), si notano diverse particolarità. Innanzitutto, dai dati nel registro il Presidente ha visto solo 3 film nel 1996 e 7 nel 1997. Inoltre, rispetto a presidenti come Carter, Nixon e Reagan, Clinton vedeva prevalentemente nuove uscite. La maggior parte sono pellicole mainstream degli anni novanta: Jerry Maguire, Le Ragazze del Coyote Ugly (!), Salvate il Soldato Ryan, Il Patriota, Apollo 13, C'è Posta per Te, Philadelphia, Mrs. Doubtfire, Forrest Gump, Star Wars: Episodio 1 - La Minaccia Fantasma ma anche Fight Club, La Vita è Bella e Il Grande Lebowski.

Tra le curiosità, il fatto che Clinton disse a Ebert di aver visto film come Contact e L.A. Confidential, che però non figurano nella lista (ma potrebbero esserci delle omissioni o il Presidente potrebbe averli visti in altri contesti). Inoltre, sembra che Clinton fosse particolarmente ossessionato dai film con i presidenti, da Independence Day a Deep Impact, passando per Dave. L'ultimo film visto è Chocolat.
