Che la critica vada spesso in direzione diametralmente opposta all'Academy è cosa nota, e in particolare capita raramente che i vincitori dei premi della National Society of Film Critics, composta da 58 dei più importanti critici americani, siano poi presenti alle nomination degli Oscar.
