Le nomination ai WGA 2012

Poche sorprese tra i nominati all'edizione 2012 dei WGA, i premi della categoria degli sceneggiatori americani, inclusa l'esclusione di The Artist, che era ineleggibile in quanto scritto dallo stesso regista fuori dalle regole del sindacato. E al contrario di altri premi di categoria, i WGA sono sempre inficiati da una serie di esclusioni che - di fatto - li rendono un indicatore meno efficace quando si tratta delle nomination all'Oscar per la sceneggiatura originale e adattata. In questo caso, per esempio, Una Separazione, Like Crazy, The Iron Lady, Shame, Rango, La Talpa, Drive, Margin Call, Martha Marcy May Marlene sono stati esclusi: qualcuno di questi film, invece, potrebbe ottenere una nomination, mentre The Artist verrà sicuramente nominato, probabilmente con The Tree of Life (che invece non ha ottenuto una nomination ai WGA).

Grande sconfitta la Warner Bros.: J. Edgar, Molto Forte Incredibilmente Vicino e Harry Potter e i Doni della Morte - Parte 2 non hanno ottenuto nomination. Tra gli altri contendenti agli Oscar ignorati dai WGA anche Le Idi di Marzo.

Da notare invece le ben due nomination a Steven Zaillian per Moneyball (che ha scritto con Aaron Sorkin) e Uomini che Odiano le Donne: continua il momento fortunato dei film Sony e del produttore Scott Rudin. Stesso dicasi per Le Amiche della Sposa.
