Sono state annunciate oggi le nomination ai Critics' Choice Movie Awards, uno dei pochi premi della critica americana a essere considerati tra gli indicatori delle tendenze legate agli Oscar (l'anno scorso otto dei dieci nominati furono nominati come miglior film agli Oscar) nonostante i votanti non abbiano nulla a che fare con l'Academy. Ottime notizie per 12 Anni Schiavo di Steve McQueen e American Hustle di David O. Russell, già tra i favoriti (e recentemente tra i più nominati ai Golden Globe): entrambi i film hanno infatti ottenuto ben 13 nomination, inclusa quella come miglior film. Affianco a loro nella categoria principale anche Captain Phillips (sei nomination), Dallas Buyers Club (tre nomination), Gravity (10 nomination), Her (sei), Inside L. Davis (quattro), Nebraska (sei), Saving Mr. Banks (quattro) e The Wolf of Wall Street (sei).

Cinque nomination anche per Lo Hobbit: la Desolazione di Smaug, mentre August: Osage County, Enough Said, Iron Man 3 e Rush ne hanno ottenute quattro. Visto il gran numero di categorie, c'è qualche sovapposizione: Christian Bale per esempio compare sia come miglior attore, miglior attore in una commedia e nella lista del cast per il premio come cast d'insieme. Gravity è incluso sia nella categoria miglior film che miglior film fantascientifico/horror.

Le nomination vengono decise dalla BFCA, nata nel 1995 e composta da oltre 300 recensori tv, radio e online del nordamerica. La premiazione della 19esima edizione si terrà al Barker Hangar di Santa Monica e andrà in onda su The CW il 16 gennaio, lo stesso giorno dell'annuncio delle nomination agli Oscar (e dell'inizio del Sundance).
