Spider-Man: Un Nuovo Universo verso l'Oscar come miglior film d'animazione

La Sony Pictures Animation ha tanto da festeggiare dopo la 46esima edizione degli Annie Awards, il premio dell'associazione degli animatori americani che si è svolto ieri sera a Los Angeles.

Le sette vittorie di Spider-Man: Un Nuovo Universo, infatti, alimentano la sua corsa all'Oscar come miglior film d'animazione. Spider-Man ha ottenuto tutti i premi per cui era animato, tra cui miglior film, miglior regia, miglior sceneggiatura, migliori scenografie, migliore character animation, miglior character design e miglior montaggio. Solo due premi per Gli Incredibili 2, altro contendente all'Oscar: il film Pixar, nominato in 11 categorie, ha vinto come miglior colonna sonora e migliori storyboard.

Premiato anche il giapponese Mirai (miglior film d'animazione indipendente), mentre Il Ritorno di Mary Poppins ha raccolto quattro premi incluso quello per la migliore live-action character animation. Trevor Jimenez, story artist presso la Pixar, ha battuto poi la sua compagnia con il premio al cortometraggio Weekends, in competizione insieme a Bao.

Tre Winsor McCay Awards sono stati consegnati a Ralph Eggleston, a Frank Braxton (postumo) e ad Andrea Romano.
